Nerd News: Wrap up Some Fun Announcements from Funko, Day 2

We had another full day of announcements for the Funko Christmas season in 2020 and it does feel a bit weird still thinking about Christmas when we’re still in July! But they’ve made the announcements, and still i believe have another day to go, so let’s have a look at what’s on the way!

There’s yet another card game based on National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I think that what Funko are good at is making awesome figures… I’m not sure how I feel about all these card games and whether or not they’re going to be a success. To go with this release they have also announced a new Funko ride for the same movie.

They next announced some European news which is unusual for the main Funko twitter account although it’s shown with an international exclusive sticker so I’m guessing this is already available in the States. In the UK, Tesco and then in France FNAC will be getting in a 4 pack of Christmas themed Marvel characters, which is comprised of Groot, Captain America as a snow man, Hulk (who glows in the dark) and Thanos in an ugly jumper!

So that they don’t feel left out there is also a DC heroes range with the Christmas theme and I must say that other than Flash as Rudolf, these characters actually work much better in Christmas outfits than the Marvel ones which I always think look ridiculous. The Joker and Harley look awesome in their Christmas attire as do Wonder Woman and even Superman… Rather than looking ridiculous they’ve made these really fun. And of course who doesn’t love Batman as Scrooge!

There are a few others which have a winter theme but not specifically Christmas. I’m not too keen on the snow man Penguin but the icy Joker and Batman look incredible!

The Christmas themed ones have also been turned in to plushies, with the exception of Superman who is in a Funko pop and a tee pack as a flocked santa.

Finally they’ve got another advent calendar which I’m not overly interested in myself but I do know that anime continues to blow up in popularity and people will go mad for these small sized Dragonball Z figures!

I'm a collector of pop culture items, with by far my biggest collection being in excess of 1,200 DVDs (yeah I still stay old school - can't wrap my head around the whole streaming thing yet), as well as various figures and Memorabilia (with most of these being McFarlane Walking Dead 5 inch figures, Funko Pop and Funko Pint Size Heroes, with a few other exceptions too). I'm a massive nerd and giant child at heart so feel free to have a chat about anything toy and movie related. My biggest movie passions are horror by far (especially slasher and zombie), sci fi and to a lesser extent action and comedy.
