Nerd News: Funko Pop Reveals from London Toy Fair 2020

As I mentioned in my previous post, I will sadly not be able to make it to Toy Fair this year, which is a shame because it looks like Funko are going to be showcasing some amazing pop figures. On their social media pages these are being announced at a crazy speed so I’m going to TRY to keep up and make some sort of sense of them for you.

Music / Pop Rocks

It’s nice to see a few new pop rocks figures added for this year, and there are some really cool and even unexpected ones amongst them. Announced so far for the 2020 season are Lemmy & Warpig from Motorhead, the Slayer lineup of Tom Araya, Kerry King & Jeff Hanneman, Willie Nelson, Lil Wayne, Salt n Pepper, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Billy Smith, Dusty Hill & Frank Beard of ZZ Top (the first of which are both flocked which is AMAZING), Ghost, Eazy-E, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson & Craig Jones of Slipknot, Shania Twain and James Brown. What a selection!

Movies and Television

The worlds of TV and television make up a pretty sizable chunk of the Funko range, so of course there were going to be a fair few announcements from this lot!

Tattoo & Mr Roarke of Fantasy Island, The Creep, Genie & Scarecrow from Creepshow, Jessica Fletcher of Murder she Wrote, Brixton, Shaw, Hobbs & Hettie from Hobbs and Shaw, Sarah, Nancy, Bonnie & Rochelle from the Craft, 3 versions of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho and a range of Harry Potter pops and pocket pops including a huge 10″ Voldemort

Where would Funko be without their animated range. Some of my most valuable pops are animated ones, and they are often some of the most fun, so they’ve revealed quite a few from this range including Earl, Fran, Robbie, Charlene & Baby Sinclair of Dinosaurs, Wallace, Gromit & Shaun the Sheep, Mako, Amon, Asami Sato and Korra of The Legend of Korra, Sy Klone, Tung Lasher, He-Man (on Battle Cat), Sorceress, Webstor, He-Man, Prince Adam, Mosquitor and a giant 10″ Skeletor of Masters of the Universe, Zummi, Sunni, Tummi, Gruffi & Cubbie of the Gummi Bears,Ian Lightfoot, Wilden Lightfoot, Manticore & Barley Lightfoot of Onward, the Mouse Detective and Spongebob Square Pants, Squidward Tentacles & Patrick star from their movie, on the run.

Sci-Fi & Superhero

Last year the majority of the ten best selling pops were from the Avengers, so it makes sense that there should be plenty of sci-fi related pops revealed. These include Michael Burnham & Saru of Star Trek, Shorty, Spikey & Jumbo from Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the Penguin, Catwoman, a massive 10″ Joker, Harley, Mr Freeze, Two Face, Riddler, Poison Ivy and a couple more old school Jokers from Batman, Rogue & Gambit from X-Men, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker (on a Tauntaun), Darth Vader, Luke with Yoda & an amazing Han Solo in Carbonite from Star Wars and the Black Widow figures which were already announced last week.

This has been a set with very few announcements, infact just one brand, but damn they look good! Based on the game Cyberpunk 2077 they announced Johnny Silverhand, V-Male and V-Female:

Finally they announced a few sporting additions in the form of a bunch of football players; Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Pulisic & N’Golo Kante of Chelsea FC, Bernardo Silva & Ederson of Manchester City, Presnel Kimpemble of Paris St Germaine and Sadio Mane of Liverpool FC.

I'm a collector of pop culture items, with by far my biggest collection being in excess of 1,200 DVDs (yeah I still stay old school - can't wrap my head around the whole streaming thing yet), as well as various figures and Memorabilia (with most of these being McFarlane Walking Dead 5 inch figures, Funko Pop and Funko Pint Size Heroes, with a few other exceptions too). I'm a massive nerd and giant child at heart so feel free to have a chat about anything toy and movie related. My biggest movie passions are horror by far (especially slasher and zombie), sci fi and to a lesser extent action and comedy.
